Czech manufacturer unveiled the successor to the most successful racing model (Fabia Super 2000) in the history of the brand.

Presented as a concept last year, Fabia R5 now has completed the development process, and gained a certified by the FIA. Based on the new Fabia hatchback, Skoda’s new rally car is pure high-tech. “We are delighted that the FIA gives us the green light. Now we can show, how good is our new rally car on racetrack”, said board member for technical development at Skoda Dr. Frank Welsch.

Skoda Fabia R5 is equipped with a 1.6-liter turbo engine (with at least 265 hp), unlike the 2.0-liter engine of the Fabia Super 2000. Besides this novelty, the new model owns the new four-wheel drive, a five-speed sequential gearbox and McPherson safety belts. According to the strict FIA rules, the car is limited to 1230 kilograms. Already there is a great interest in the new Skoda rally car, because it is the successor of the most successful racing car of the brand, with a total of 50 international titles in 6 years, since its first appearance in 2009.

With all this achievements is the most successful project in the 114 years long motorsport history of the company. We have to admit that the new racing machine from Skoda looks fantastic, and will repeat the success of the Fabia Super 2000.
