Since 1991, Hennessey Performance has been transforming all manner of American car models into bonafide high-performance dream machines. Dubbed the HPE1200 Twin Turbo, the most recent addition to the Texas-based outfit’s more than 10,000 completed builds is constructed around Chevrolet’s 2020 C8 Corvette and take’s the “mid-engine masterpiece” to new heights with a bevy of mechanical and aesthetic upgrades.

Hennessey’s revised version of the 2020 MotorTrend Car of the Year sees its power output more than doubled thanks to the implementation of a specially-developed twin-turbo system for the iconic car’s 6.2L LT2 eight-banger. The V8 also gets forged aluminum pistons, forged steel con-rods, and an improved and reinforced factory eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Not only does the HPE1200 TT afford 2.5-times the power as the stocker C8, but it also offers an improved power-to-weight ratio thanks to Hennessey’s signature CarbonAero carbon fiber bodywork upgrades comprised of a front splitter, rear wing, air-dam, and side skirts composed of the trick weave.

There’s a Ram-air roof-scoop and set of aftermarket wheels, too. The 1,200 horses are kept in check by upgraded braking and suspension hardware from Brembo and Penske, respectively. Pricing and availability have yet to be announced, though interested parties are being asked to fill out a Hennessey C8 questionnaire on the company’s website.
