Volkswagen with an electric racing car ID R set a new record this year’s race at Pikes Peak Hill Climb in Colorado.  The average speed amounted to 90 538 mp / h – 145 676 km / h, and it should be recalled that the previous record of 8: 13.878 minutes more in 2013 by Sebastien Loeb, who was driving a race car Peugeot 208 T16. This has also brought down the record for electric vehicles at Pikes Peak since the previous record from 2016 (which set Rhys Millen) was 8 minutes and 57 seconds.  Official time is 7: 57.148 minutes, while behind the wheel was 39-year-old Frenchman Romain Dumas. As a reminder, Volkswagen R ID Pikes Peak has 680 HP – 500 kW and 650 Nm, which is enough to 1100 kg heavy car with 4×4 drive up to 100 km / h in just 2.2 seconds. This is a real rocket on wheels.
