It has already been said about the first appearance of the test prototype of the first VW’s electrically powered electric model, and in the meantime, a new render that shows its appearance appeared. Let’s take a look at the production version of I.D.
For the time being, VW does not provide any information about the serial model, but we know that the production will begin in 2019. It is believed that this model will be labeled ID Neo, while its price will be at the level of a more fuel-efficient diesel Golf.
This novelty will be slightly smaller than the Golf’s outside dimensions, but in the interior it should offer approximately the same range of space. As far as exterior is concerned, the serial model will greatly remain faithful to the study. Differences are visible on the front bumper, mask and lights, and conventional mirrors, as well as door handles, are visible.
We also recall that this model will be based on the VW’s MEB platform for electric models from the Volkswagen Group and the basis of the entire Volkswagen electric offensive.
From the technical details we know that the production ID hatchback will have an electrically driven rear-wheel drive and a rear-wheel drive, and a four-wheel drive variant should also be offered. Also, customers should be available with several versions of different battery capacities and therefore different autonomies. It is expected that the autonomy of this car will range between 320 and 550 km, while in the case of charging on a quick charger, the batteries will charge up to 80% capacity in about 30 minutes. The official premiere of this car will be held later this year, and the production will take place at the Cvikau plant in Germany.
